WHAT IS DERMAPEN

HOW DERMAPEN REALLY WORKS

Dermapen employs the traditional Chinese technique for acupuncture only that here; the targeted result is not to reduce pain but rather to improve the skin appearance.

Basically, a Dermapen has 12 needles on the very tip and these 12 needles are the ones that are used to puncture the top layer of the skin as the Dermapen glides over the area being treated. Usually, the Dermapen will be positioned vertically over the skin and when it is turned on, a motor that is found inside the pen will start making the needles to move rapidly back and forth on the skin surface creating the punctures and these needles have been created in such a way that they can rotate in a slight way. These punctures created in the process are usually aimed at opening up the pores for a period of time only.

When a person hurts themselves, the skin will generally initiate skin repair by stimulating growth factors that will, in turn, lead to the generation of collagen and elastin. Therefore, when the punctures are made using the Dermapen, the skin will treat the punctures as wounds and therefore initiate healing. This means that micro-needling tend to trick the skin to produce collagen and elastin to promote ‘healing’ and the effect will be a rejuvenated skin.

Dermapen is used mostly for face wrinkles, scars, stretch marks and facial lines. When one is injured and the skin forms a scar, or if they have a stretch mark the body will treat these as though that area was repaired. Therefore having the punctures created in the scar tissue will cause the skin to initiate healing and, therefore, the damaged skin will tend to get eliminated and replaced with new skin. For wrinkles and face lines, basically, the produced collagen and elastin will cause the skin to thicken and also tighten leaving the skin looking youthful.

Generally, Dermapen has been effective and quite advantageous over other skin treatment procedures. This has seen to it that its popularity keeps growing by the day.

The Dermapen creates the tiny little wounds on the top layer of the skin, which will help your skin to start healing itself and triggers the body to produce new collagen and elastin.

Microneedling Stretch Marks
Microneedling stretch marks with Dermapen have shown some amazing results. Stretch marks can result from a whole lot of things, including pregnancy, childhood growth spurts, and genetic predisposition. Results can vary from patient to patient, often there are quite drastic before-and-after picture comparisons.

Stretch marks are tears to the connective tissue of the skin, caused by over stretching of the skin. When the connective tissue is stretched, the tear results in what’s called an epidermal atrophy along the area that has been damaged. Once this happens, the epidermis becomes thin and loses it ridges, breaking the elastic fibres and causing the epidermis to retract. When you microneedle your stretch marks, it helps to promote regeneration of the skin covering those stretch marks, which restores the contours of your skin’s surface.

Microneedling Acne scars
Acne scars are areas of fibrous tissue (fibrosis) that replace normal skin after injury. A scar results from the biological process of wound repair in the skin and other tissues of the body. With the exception of very minor lesions, every wound (e.g. after accident, disease, surgery) results in some degree of scarring. Scar tissue is the same protein (collagen) as the tissue that it replaces, but the fibre composition of the protein is different. Instead of a nice “basket weave” formation of fibres, the collagen in scar tissue is aligned in a single direction resulting in a pronounced and thicker appearance.

There are multiple causes of acne, including hormone dysfunction, allergies, environmental factors, and nutritional deficiencies. Regardless if the cause, acne scars are a result of skin follicles becoming blocked by excessive oils. The skin will attempt to heal anyway, and scar tissue forms as the collagen becomes deformed and thickens.

Dermapen Wrinkles
Dermapen wrinkles micro needling excels when used as a treatment for fine lines and wrinkles. Best results are seen over a period of 4-6 treatments, which we call a “Dermapen Series.”

Dermapen PRP Microneedling (COMING SOON)
A new Dermapen PRP microneedling cosmetic procedure uses this popular treatment in conjunction with the Dermapen microneedling procedure. Both procedures are used independently, however the combination or dual modality of using the Dermapen’s fractional trans-dermal delivery application is being used to increase per-cutaneous absorption of the PRP medium. Dermapen’s automated modality delivers thousands of micro sized injuries to the dermal layer of the skin. These tiny micro sized 33-gauge needles vibrate and punch vertically into the skin at speeds of up to 25+ times/sec. This controlled “damage” to the skin harnesses the body’s own injury response to rejuvenate and repair the skin through the proven science of collagen stimulation known as collagen induction therapy (CIT).

The Dermapen PRP microneedling treatment now being combined with the PRP therapy in practices across the world. The PRP treatment is administered first and involves the application of a rich concentration of the patients own platelet rich plasma that is spun down via a centrifuge device. The Dermapen uses the fractionated pattern of micro needles to drive the PRP into the dermal – epidermal junction (DEJ). The Dermapen device allows the practitioner to vary the speed and depth to handle all different areas of the patient’s face and body. The PRP treatment is widely accepted as a very effective treatment and takes advantage of the body’s own powerful growth factors to stimulate healing and rejuvenation. Now when combined with the Dermapen treatment, the PRP therapy has an effective delivery application to easily penetrate the surface of the skin and jump start the rejuvenation process. The treatment is easily administered and there is no clinical downtime for the patient. This treatment is used to help patients with all skin types and is a corrective and preventative therapy to treat fine lines and wrinkles, manage scars from acne or other injuries, improve skin texture and colour from melasma presentations, reduce stretch mark appearance and stimulate new collagen growth.
